Testimonials

“Janna Raye has been involved with our organization over the last 18 months to consult and participate with us in setting a new direction for our organization. Through her programs we have recommitted to a shared vision, fostered better communication through roundtable meetings, and driven very positive results in our customer service-centered business. Major improvements in our own associate opinion survey, our individual traveler survey, and our group customer survey are significant, and in some cases, best of class. David Dolquist, General Manager, The Renaissance Lodge at Sonoma

“This program is terrific. We've never done anything like this before.Ted Pierce, CEO, The Surplus Line Association of California

“Thank you Janna Raye! Your stress relief seminar that the managers of our organization participated in was incredibly valuable for all of us. Your course has created a real sense calm throughout our work place. Co-workers are just not turning little problems into major catastrophes anymore. They are coming to conclusions themselves. I recommend all businesses bring you into their workplace as you are gifted and incredibly knowledgeable about the inner workings of management and office structures. Christopher Oscar, Advertising Sales Manager, The Sonoma Index-Tribune

I am so grateful for the gift of your work with my group. We have set our sails on a new course with a new and very exciting journey in front of us. I look forward to our continued work together.” —Betty Brachman, CEO, The Brachman Group, Sotheby's International

“Working with you has helped me on my path to my authentic self.” —Eva Patel, CEO, SkinRX

“Thank you for an excellent session.” —Prof. Sandra Mirabel, National Council for Community and Education Partnerships

“Thank you so much for your expert direction.” —Randall Fearnow, Krieg-Devault Attorneys at Law

“Janna Raye’s clear insight into our communication issues helped our team to transform and grow so that we are now better able to express ourselves, learn from and support each other, and act in alignment with our vision for growth. It was a tremendous experience working with StrateGems.” —Sharon Miller, CEO, Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center

“What we appreciated most was Janna Raye’s insight and ability to gather information, pick through the issues, and to listen. The ability to come in with enough of an open mind to gather the data and then figure out what was next — not all consultants can do this.”   — Rick Tompane, CEO, Gemfire Corporation

About Janna Raye

Janna Raye has been developing collective intelligence tools since 1996. As Director of Licensing for InfoWorld, Janna was part of the team that designed InfoWorld’s first web sites. During that time she collaborated with Marimba to create InfoPlanIT, a collective intelligence tool for helping IT managers track and maintain updates and software installations for large corporate networks. Janna subsequently designed and consulted on web-based information systems for such organizations as ImproveNet, Eclipse Group, Gemfire, Softbank Forums, Image-Smith, and PlanetU.

Through these experiences she realized that, although new technology enabled a higher level of cooperation and group intelligence, internal competition was preventing modern organizations from using this technology to work smarter and not harder. Janna then immersed herself in studying the systemic issues underlying workplace dysfunction and turned her focus toward developing StrateGems workplace seminars for leaders and teams. She has created learning tools based upon scientific research and communication techniques for helping shift relationships in the workplace. These programs help leaders implement natural hierarchies for improving adaptability and unleashing creative innovation in teams. Janna is certified in The Bob Pike Group’s Creative Training Techniques ® program, nationally recognized for their participant-centered approach to behavioral change. She has spoken at both state and national human resources and educator conferences, including the NCHRA (Northern California Human Resources Assn.) and the NCCEP (National Council for Community and Education Partnerships).

Her training programs have been implemented since 2001 by Marriott, Clorox, Sotheby’s International Realty, Surplus Line Association of Calif., The Sonoma Index-Tribune, Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, Gundlach-Bundschu Winery, The Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery, Rockridge Smiles, and more. Raye has facilitated workplace and visualization courses at various locations in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, including Red Mountain Spa in St. George, Utah. Her programs are now offered through Raindance Spa at the Renaissance Lodge at Sonoma. Janna is a member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) in Petaluma, Calif., mentors a teen in the Sonoma Valley Mentor Alliance, and is certified as a leader in the Challenge Sonoma Adventure Ropes Course, an experiential team-building program on Sonoma Mountain near her home in Glen Ellen, California.

A graduate of San Francisco State University in 1987, Janna earned her Bachelor’s of Art degree in Humanities and a certificate in Professional and Technical Writing before beginning her first career in the technology publishing field. She initially worked as an editor for Dr. Dobb’s Journal, a software programmer’s magazine, where she witnessed the emerging exponential growth in computer technology and its vast potential for improving collaboration. In 1991, she joined IDG Books’ founding editorial team as Senior Editor. That company will always be remembered for changing computer books from dry, boring manuals into fun and interesting tomes through the …for Dummies line of books, scores of which Janna negotiated after becoming Acquisitions Editor.
